Two filmmakers, Alexander Rienzie and Connor Burkesmith, initiated a lawsuit to challenge the legality of the National Park Service permit-and-fee system. Their lawsuit claims that it's unconstitutional, among other things. The filmmakers initiated the claim after they were denied a filming permit at the Grand Teton National Park. What's interesting is that they proceeded with their project anyway, got their footage, and were not charged. As such, I don't see how they could claim they've suffered any harm. Do they even have standing? You can read more about the issue here.

Do you believe this lawsuit will change how our national parks issue permits? Do you think the fee-and-permitting system is too onerous?
