I tend to receive many inquiries regarding temporary events such as anything holiday related (i.e. Thanksgiving), and as I do not work for street vending or liquor vending permits, I am wondering if your department has a fast track process or a regular wait time for temporary events and if so, does it take a few weeks or longer? Thank you and happy holidays :)

I'm in California. We have a variety of temporary permits, including outdoor use, special events, and even spontaneous demonstration. The turnaround time varies based on the event and the resources that will be used. A spontaneous demonstration permit typically has a turnaround time of two days, while a temporary special events permit can take up to 20 days. I know the office does everything they can to get these approved in a timely manner.

The Parks & Recreation department issues many temporary permits on the same day that they are requested. These are typically permits with a limited timeframe and a natural end. These include camping permits, special event permits, and the like.

Most of ours are issued within the week, if not the same day. They're pretty standard forms that are easy to fill out. Most people do it online.
