New concealed carry law will allow 18-year-olds to have guns without permit starting Fourth of July

Not a big fan of this, because I don't think allowing 18 years old to have even easier access to guns makes sense to solve it the problem with gun violence. It also doesn't help, like you said @Winny about how Louisiana had some of the worst gun violence back in 2021. I don't know how this would...

Norway to award seabed exploration permits in 2025

That's a good point, the article does only mention mining of minerals on the seabed, doesn't mention if you can collect artifacts found while mining. I could see that requiring some other permits like you said. I could see a lot of people lying and mining for artifacts while mining for these...

    Online Portals

Are there any portals available throughout the whole country? Or are there usually online portals in each city/location? I'm mostly just curious, as I could see there being a country wide system. If not, I think they should look into implementing a country wide system. Or would that be impossible?

Importance of waiting for a permit

Patience is key, and I know having to wait isn't always ideal, but everyone is in the same boat and has to wait just like the rest of us. Patience goes a long way though, because there will be times when thigs take a tad bit longer than usual. I always tell people to be patient, wait it out...

Missouri hunters can now use drones to track wounded deer, turkey but at increased permit costs

Source: Springfield News-Leader If you intend to hunt deer and turkey this year in Missouri, you'll have to take some new rules and pricing to keep in mind. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) had decided to raise prices on permits. The MDC have brought out a new fall turkey-hunting...

Norway to award seabed exploration permits in 2025

Imagine if you found some hidden treasures. I can't imagine it's a cheap endeavor to take up either. Aside from the permits, you have to account for the equipment to mind, boats and whatever other machinery you need. And who knows who will get selected to get these permits. I doubt anyone can...

    Getting a liquor license

To my knowledge, it can be challenging. I know some states have limited availability for permits, so it's not always easy to obtain. Then you got rules around if you are running a bar or restaurant. Might be things to do with restaurants that also serve kids. It might also depend on the area.

Unpermitted ADUs a growing issue in Bay Area

Yeah I can see a lot of people trying to just rent them out. And part of me is okay with that, because of they at least charge a fair price, or a more affordable price I should say, than I don't think it's that bad. But if they're trying to rent it out for a lot, that's a different story.

Washington State Proposes New Stormwater Regulations

This is great news. I don't know a whole lot on this sort of stuff, especially stormwater regulations, but if there are harmful chemicals involved and this is to slow that process down, I'm all for it. It's definitely a step in the right direction.

Backlog of Honolulu Building Permits Taking Toll on Revenues

There is a significant backlog for Honolulu's Department of Planning and Permitting, or DPP for short. There is now close to 20,000 applications for just 2023 alone, but only fewer than 15,000 or so permits have been issued. Property owners and developers are facing longer wait times for...

Do you need a permit to collect rainwater in Michigan?

The good news is that you don't have to obtain any permits to collect rainwater in Michigan. As long as you're using the water for gardening and personal use, you are fine to collect as much as you want.

Yavapai County will expand $65,000 home program

Yeah I thought the same. 19 homes completed in such a short time is great. I assume the 61 that have permits are hard at work on their homes, so those numbers could be better in the next few years, at least in terms of completed house builds.

Yavapai County will expand $65,000 home program

Affordable housing, here we come. Yavapai County's "Home of My Own" Program will be expanding upon their $65,000 home program to help bring more affordable housing to the area. The program, which was launched back in 2020, offered a set of pre-approved plans that were for one, two, and...

Unpermitted ADUs a growing issue in Bay Area

I agree. ADU's seem to be a big help as of late. It could be a great way to help with the homeless problem. If my yard permitted it, I would totally put up an ADU and try and either rent it out or use it to help a friend or family member even. Or if I have land, I could consider letting someone...

What is the one thing you think your permit counter can do a better job of?

I think overall, I just want to have a fast experience with the permitting process. I don't want it to be a long drawn out process. The quickest I can get in and out is ideal. There is some great ideas in here, like one being, having self service options. Being able to file electronically right...

League City cracks down on door-to-door solicitation with strict permit requirements

I am not a fan of them either. Usually I only get religious people, either trying to preach the word of god, or trying to sell me on something, or kids trying to sell candy. But I found we often get visits from obscure gas companies that try to steer us to a different company. Ever since, I've...

NYC street vendors say city's permitting system is failing

Doesn't make sense, I don't think the kid was causing issues, just was unpermitted. Cops often take it too far. I don't think it was necessary to handcuff him. Same. I hate seeing how so many are affected by this. Not only the vendors, but the city is hurting too with the lost money from all...

New Protection for Coastal Martens in California and Oregon

I'm so glad there is a protection order out. I think it's great, that as the human race, we attempt to protect the endangered animals like this. Just sucks that we need it to get to this point before people make an attempt to save them. It sounds like they really are working on a good plan to...

City Permitting Probe Raises Concerns of Misconduct and Corruption in New Orleans

I can see this being an end to his Mayoral duties or shall I say his Mayoral job. It's not a good look to fire someone to appease some rich business man. I wonder if there is more of this behind closed doors. If he did this for someone, there's a chance he has done this to other people to get...

NYC street vendors say city's permitting system is failing

Street vendors in the NYC area are having issues as of late when it comes to the city's permitting system. People are claiming that they're unable to obtain permits. Which is resulting in people setting up shop without the required permits. One incident recently has sparked some outrage, as a...
